"Gripper"

A young bobcat climbs the paper bark birch and clings to the tree while scrutinizing the photographer. This bobcat was raised in captivity, but was photographed in a natural setting. Wild cats are usually more nocturnal and naturally secretive, rarely offering good photo opportunities. (The wild bobcat on the home page of this site is a hard-earned exception. He was photographed at Bosque del Apache in New Mexico.)
